Event Information

The Town of Delavan and the City of Delavan are jointly planning a 'Celebration of Freedom' from June 13th - 17th 2012 at the Community Park. The centerpiece of this celebration is an American Veteran's Traveling Tribute called 'the Cost of Freedom' which is an indoor tribute to those who lost their lives in defense of our country. It includes a scaled down replica of the Vietnam Veteran's Wall; tributes to all of the other wars; tributes to the policemen and firefighters that lost their lives during 9/11. American Veterans Traveling Tribute (AVTT) travels the USA with the Cost of Freedom Tribute to provide a forum for the members of the community to come together to Honor-Respect-Remember all those whom we have asked to stand in harm's way to protect and defend our great country and freedom as our way of life. They are the true American Heroes and we have an obligation to pay tribute to them by celebrating the freedoms they fought for and stand to insure. In addition to this display they are planning on involving many Veteran organizations and also a Flag Day Ceremony on Saturday, June 16th 2012, to be performed by the Walworth-Lakeland Elks #2201. Other events are being planned for each day and it is their intention to make this an event not only to honor our military past and present and their families, but to draw tourists from southeast Wisconsin and northern Illinois. This is the only scheduled tribute in southern WI and northern IL. In order to keep the Cost of the Freedom exhibit free to the public, we need to find sponsors for the cost of bringing the exhibit here. We hope you will consider becoming a sponsor and helping to bring this exhibit to our area. For more information about the AVTT tributes, visit their website: http://www.avtt.org/
